BRIAN GIBSON TROPHY - 2023

Chris Watchorn seems to have a liking for this competition as it is now 3 wins in the last 4 attempts!!

1st Chris Watchorn with 42 points
2nd Adrian Finnis with 39 points
3rd Steve Clough and Andy Davidge both with 35 points (and identical cards!)

Nearest the pin
on 4th - Steve Clough
on 15th - Tony Slipper

A total of 22 players accepted the 3 clubs and a putter challenge - a bit of fun added to our calendar!
Again it is amazing how scoring was little different or even better to having a full complement of clubs in the bag!
Special mention to Les Vine, Gordon Scott and Colin Musson who all walked the course as buggies were banned.

BRIAN GIBSON TROPHY - 2021

History did NOT repeat itself as Chris Watchorn missed the hat-trick ! Henry Knight winning the event on count back from Les Vine (I want the same medication as Les !!)

1st Henry Knight (on count back) with 40 points
2nd Les Vine with 40 points
3rd Colin Thornton (on count back) with 39 points.

A total of 18 players accepted the 3 clubs and a putter challenge - a bit of fun added to our calendar! Again it is amazing how scoring was little different than having a full complement of clubs in the bag!

BRIAN GIBSON TROPHY - 2020

History repeats itself as Chris Watchorn wins again - obviously only playing with 3 clubs and not a full bag suits his game

1st Chris Watchorn with 40 points
2nd Chris Daynes with 35 points
3rd Phil Turrell with 34 points.

Around 24 players decided to accept the 3 clubs and a putter challenge - an excellent diversion from our normal routine golf. Again it is amazing how scoring was little different to having a full complement of clubs in the bag! Food for thought but I'm sure we will all have 14 clubs back for the next time we play!

BRIAN GIBSON TROPHY - 2019

Started in 2019 - the inaugural winner was:

Chris Watchorn with 38 points ocb
Mike Whitington also 38 points
Tin Win 37 points.

31 entries on the starting grid at 7:30 4 September despite light rain falling.
With plenty of discussion beforehand about the definition of "4 clubs" eventually the Seniors managed to sort it out and probably surprised themselves how scoring was little different to having a full complement in their bags!
Having been "quiet" the past few months Chris burst back into the headlines to collect the excellent new trophy fashioned by our resident carpenter - Richard James.
