February Stableford - it's another handy Andy, this time the one with the surname Wood
from our "Less Grumpy" Correspondent
Another Stableford on the Lakes Course - with the course slowly improving. A total of 18 made the start, with 17 finishing. Yet again, and typical of winter conditions, nobody played to par or better - but we did have a worthy winner
The winner was Andy Wood with 35 points, in second place Chris Daynes with 33 points and in third place Bob Privett with 32 points
January Stableford - He must have had the "right tools" - its Toule at last (only because Stephenson wasn't playing!)
from our "How to be a Granddad" Correspondent
Well after all the rain and cancelled qualifying competitions we eventually managed a Stableford on the Lakes Course - which despite a week of no rain remained quite wet. However, the weather was still in control as the 15 that turned up were reduced to 13 due to a mist delay of 1 hour - meaning a 09.30 start (and a 1.30 finish!!)
The winner was David Toule with 35 points, in second place Dave Dexter with 33 points and in third place Bob Clarke also with 32 points
December Stableford - Stephenson again, and again, and again, and again..!!
from our Dietary Correspondent
The winner was Pete Stephenson with 32 points, in second place Glenn Grimes with 30 points and in third place Nick Townend also with 30 points
November Stableford - Stephenson again, and again, and again..!!
from our Hospital Correspondent
November has proved a difficult month with all the rain we have had and this Stableford had been rescheduled.
The Lakes course was still very wet under foot and with the leaves having fallen did make ball finding difficult at times.
However, 23 Seniors battled their way round but only 1 played to handicap or better.
In winter months that is a fairly typical result!!
The winner was Pete Stephenson with 36 points, in second place David Toule with 34 points and in third place Tom Rea with 32 points
Thanks to all who played and many congratulations to Pete Stephenson.
October Stableford - If any one would, Andy Wood would!!
from our Travel Correspondent
The least feared combination of a Stableford on the Woods meant we had a total of 28 registering for this event and we were greeted by probably the coldest morning of the year so far. Maybe that's why only 1 of our fold managed to play to par
The winner was Andy Wood with a 36 points, in second place Norman Tidy with 35 points on count-back from Mike Gulliford also with 35 points
Thanks to all who played and many congratulations to Andy Wood.
October Medal - Its Handy Andy yet again, what will Glenda do with his balls!!
from our Bulgarian Diplomatic Correspondent
The dreaded combination of a Medal on the Lakes and a dodgy weather forecast meant we only had 20 players (one if which stated only 9 holes today!). A further 2 fell by the wayside meaning we had 17 players finishing the competition.
The winner was Andy Davidge with a very commendable nett 68, in second place Colin Musson with a nett 71 and in 3rd place David Toule with a nett 73
Thanks to all who played and many congratulations to Andy Davidge.
September Stableford - Stephenson Rockets Ahead
from our IT Correspondent
Monthly Stableford on the Lakes - 21 Seniors, weather conditions not bad but about half the round played in drizzle, mostly light.
Greens a little slow but obviously did not affect those who managed very good scores.
The winner was Peter Stephenson with 40 points, in second place Chris Watchorn with 39 points and third Bob Privett on 38 points
Congratulations to Peter
August Medal & 1st Round Memorial Cup - Andy Wood, even on the Lakes he could see the wood from the trees!!
from our Forestry Correspondent
The worthy winner was Andy Wood with a nett 72, in second place Chris Watchorn with a nett 73 and in 3rd place Phil Holmes with a nett 75
Thanks to all who played and many congratulations to Andy Wood.
