Supporting Help For Heroes

Another magnificent event, carrying on from last year's blockbuster. We were dealt a very lucky hand on the weather front being between droughts and floods, overcast to start with but the sun actually made a guest appearance and we had had a nice warm day to finish with.

The whole event went like clockwork and our grateful thanks are due to the "team" that worked so hard to ensure it all happened. Peter from the pro-shop worked his socks off and together with Ian and Mike deserve mention. The green staff had worked miracles to get the course playable and finally the chefs excelled themselves to feed us all with an excellent carvery.

We had a very moving speech from Katie of Help For Heroes that put all our troubles into perspective compared to the young men she sees arriving back from Afghanistan. It was heart-warming to hear what the charity does for these brave men and the fact that 100% of contributed funds are spent on them.
